Awww shucks....

Today I want to take some time to express my gratitude to Diane. She was recently kind enough to introduce me as a new blogger on this post on her amazing blog, Diane's Designs. Once you see her blog, you'll understand why I am so honored to be recognized by such a talented stamper. Thank you, Diane, for not only your kind words but also your positive and uplifting spirit. I encourage everybody to take the time to express their gratitude to another person today. Doing so would be a great excuse to make a super cute card, right? :)

With gratitude to you for stopping by,

Anita

I Have a Case of....

I have a case of my own card! :) I decided to recreate one of my cards now that I have completed the Copic certification class in an effort to visualize any improvement in my coloring skills. If you'd like, you may see my original card here. I highly recommend attending a Copic Certification class with Marianne if you have the opportunity to do so...she's downright awesome. If you are interested in learning more about Copic markers, please check out Marianne's blog.

Have a great day!

Spin-Bot

This is my first attempt at creating a spinner card...I sure hope you like it! The robot was heat embossed using a VersaMark stamp pad and SU silver embossing powder. After he had a little "cool down" I was able to cut him out and then adhere him to two coins using dimensional adhesives (I used dimes as this particular robot was a just a bit too skinny to use pennies). I loosely followed a tutorial on spinner cards created by Cambria Turnbow that can be found here. I found spinner cards to be somewhat less complicated to make than I had anticipated, so if you have been intimidated by the thought of creating one...go for it! If I can do it, anyone can. The most difficult thing about the entire process was trimming around that cute little robot. Thank goodness for my SU paper snips or I might have gone all "nuts and bolts" while cutting him out! :)

Thanks for swinging by!

Cows, and Dogs, and Gift Sets...Oh My!

I decided to create a gift set for each of my friend's two daughters as they recently celebrated birthdays. I used the Cow Background stamp from the Cookie Crumbs presented by CC Designs and Stampin' Up! markers to create the colorful cow pattern. I really like the look of the two layered SU ribbons together....I think I might just use layered ribbons on more of my cards! There is quite a bit of bling courtesy of Stickles glitter glue on the main Annabelle image (also from the Cookie Crumbs line), and although it's difficult to see the cupcake image is placed on a dimensional adhesive. Did you notice Annabelle's dress is made of patterned paper? This was my first attempt at paper piecing, and I've decided that this technique adds a lot!

The second gift set was created for one of the daughters who has an aversion to the color pink. I know...gasp...could it be possible? While I love the color pink, I wanted to give her something in colors she could appreciate. For this gift set, I chose some cutie pie canines from Stampin Bella and paired them with a Papertrey sentiment.

Have a good one!

Anita

Bear-els of fun!

I recently attended a Copic certification class and had the opportunity to learn how to *better* use my Copic markers. While I definitely would not consider myself a pro at coloring with Copics, I do recommend taking the class if you have the opportunity to do so. I learned so much and met a couple of really sweet gals as well. The "professor", Marianne was so entertaining and easygoing. If you are interested in learning Copic marker techniques, please check out Marianne's blog: http://www.ilikemarkers.blogspot.com . Now that I've seen what Copic's airbrushing system can do, I can't wait to get my hands on it.

The card was inspired by the pink and brown dotted ribbon that I just can't seem to get enough of. I tend to gravitate towards this color combo when I am looking for something a bit softer. The card itself is quite simple, so I won't bore you with a long drawn out explanation. I just knew I had to try out my Copic markers on this cutie pie bear from CC Designs.

Thanks for stopping by,

Anita

Bella Belated

Hi there! Just like this card my first blog post is very belated. Gosh, I feel so high tech right now blogging and all. You never know, one of these days I might even be using the advanced smiley faces and watermarking my photos. Whodathunkit? I am so excited to finally be sharing in the blog frenzy. I made this pretty lady to give to my mother in law to be. I know what you are thinking...did you really overlook your mother in law to be's birthday? Shameful but true. I'm just starting to learn to color with Copics, so no zooming in and checking for imperfections please.

Caio bella....bye for now,

Anita
